Senator TAMBLING —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

  That the Senate—

  (a)notes that the week beginning 29 May 1994 is Schizophrenia Awareness Week;

  (b)recognises that schizophrenia is a severe mental illness occurring mainly in young adults from all walks of life, between the ages of 18 and 25 years;

  (c)applauds the work undertaken by peak mental health organisations, mental health research institutes, self-help groups, parents and carers in raising awareness of mental illness, particularly schizophrenia, with our young population; and

  (d)calls on the Federal Government to address the burdens faced by young Australians with mental illness.
