Senator CAMPBELL —by leave—One of the points that Senator Hill raised earlier was in relation to Senator McMullan's second refusal to table documents the subject of an order of the Senate of both last week and yesterday. I want to ask the Leader of the Government in the Senate, Senator Evans, whether or not before Senator McMullan left for his overseas trade mission he provided Senator Evans with any statement or explanation regarding his refusal to comply with the Senate's orders. Was the Leader of the Government aware that Senator McMullan had been ordered to produce these documents and was censured last night for refusing to table them? Has the minister given any instruction or direction that the proper and constitutional order of the Senate be immediately complied with by his junior colleague in order to purge his contempt and thereby escape the consequences of a serious offence against the Senate?
