Senator HARRADINE (10.47 a.m.) —I will just speak briefly so that Senator Spindler may continue. I ask the minister to take this question on notice and perhaps respond later on. Is it not a fact that government departments, and GBEs even, can seek opinions from the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission in respect of decisions that they might take following legislation adopted by this parliament? If that is the case, why should not members of parliament seek information on legislation that is coming before it?
