Senator BELL —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

  That the Senate—


    (i)recent reports of Tasmanian school children being charged for assaulting a teacher, and

    (ii)reports of incidents relating to drug usage in Tasmanian schools being referred to police;

  (b)recognises that such actions are the inevitable result of the cuts to education funding perpetrated by this Labor Government, aided and abetted by the Coalition; and

  (c)calls on the Government to restore schools' support and funding to levels that will properly address the serious decline in numbers of teachers, and enable the re-establishment of proper and traditional notions of responsibility, respect and authority.
