Senator BROWNHILL —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

  That the Senate—

(i)the stand taken by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in a recent departmental report in which it attacks discriminatory United States (US) trading policies,

(ii)that the report lists complaints about US trade barriers to Australian agriculture, steel, wine and beer, and

(iii)that the balance of trade between the US and Australia is massively in favour of the US and, at $8 billion, is our largest bilateral trade deficit; and

(b)calls on the Government to continue to highlight this imbalance to US officials and press them to match their rhetoric of a fair and free trading environment with meaningful trade reforms.
