Senator Kemp asked the Minister representing the Prime Minister, upon notice, on 14 April 1994:

  What was the remuneration package of Professor Barry Hughes for his work on the Green Paper: Restoring Full Employment, A Discussion Paper.

Senator Gareth Evans —The Prime Minister has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question:

  The Remuneration Tribunal Determination of 16 August 93 awarded the following rates to all academic members of the Committee on Employment Opportunities:

Sitting fees pd—$401.00

  Travel Allowance—overnight capital $300.00; overnight non capital $155.00; hrs (part day) $45.00

  Professor Hughes attended 11 days of Committee meetings and 8 days of public consultations conducted by the Committee. Total sitting fees paid amounted to $7,619.00, and a total of $2,635.00 was paid for travel allowance. Professor Hughes also contributed his own time to the work of the Committee for no direct payment.
