Senator SPINDLER (4.38 p.m.) —I would like to pursue a little further the earlier questioning of the minister. A couple of questions arise from his answer. Is the minister really saying that the government has currently no influence on the lending policies of AIDC? Could he tell the Senate whether the government has a representative on the board or the governing body of AIDC? Who is that representative? He might like to elaborate on the charter or articles of AIDC. It seems to me that the AIDC was established for the purpose of providing—as the name implies—industry development funds for Australian industries. Is the minister saying that that purpose has gone by the board, that it is no longer the purpose of AIDC and that the government is not represented and has no influence on the lending policies of AIDC?
