(Question No. 1195)

Senator Patterson asked the Minister representing the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Human Services, upon notice, on 8 March 1994:

  (1) Does the department, or any of its agencies, produce electoral profiles (or other like documents) outlining relevant programs, services or other forms of assistance provided in individual federal electorates; if so, when were these electoral profiles (or other like documents) first produced and how frequently are they produced.

  (2) Is a copy of the electoral profiles (or other like documents) provided to the Parliamentary Library, if not, why not.

  (3) Please provide a copy of the most up-to-date edition of each of these electoral profiles (or other like documents) for all federal electorates to the Parliamentary Library.

Senator Bolkus —The Minister for Housing and Regional Development has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question:

  (1) The department has produced electoral profiles since 1988 as an efficient and useful means of informing members of Parliament of the extent of program activity throughout Australia. The profiles are produced once or twice a year, with no set release time.

  (2) A copy of the latest release—August 1993 is available in the Parliamentary Library.

  (3) The Parliamentary Library has the most up-to-date edition and will be provided with a set in the next and future releases.
