  The ACTING DEPUTY PRESIDENT (Senator Teague)—The President has received a letter from Senator Short proposing that a definite matter of public importance be submitted to the Senate for discussion, namely:

  The need for the government's industry and employment statement to address the fundamental problems that continue to hold back Australia's potential for jobs and growth.

I call upon those senators who approve of the proposed discussion to rise in their places.
