To the Honourable the President and Members of the Senate here assembled. The following petition of the undersigned citizens of Australia respectfully showeth:

1.That we are concerned by the poor level of appointments of ethnic Australians to Boards, Tribunals, Courts, Commissions. . .

2.That we are shocked by the ALP's policy of 21 August 1988 which requires 25% of all places for women but fails to mention the contribution of ethnic Australians.

3.That ethnic Australians have made a strong and positive contribution to the development of our nation and have more to offer.

4.That ethnic Australians are by proportion far less represented in all areas of public life than are women.

5.And that we respectfully request that this parliament give due and proper consideration to the appointments of suitably qualified ethnic Australians and thus redress the high amounts of discrimination that exist in Australian public life.

And your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray.
