Senator SHERRY (Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Primary Industries and Energy) (12.33 p.m.) —This provision of the bill is for people who work in foreign places and who are from Australia. Frankly, I cannot see the relevance of the information that the honourable senator is seeking. As I understand it, he is querying whether foreign people in Australia are covered by Medicare.

Senator Watson —Does it provide any impediments in terms of employees in foreign locations?

Senator SHERRY —As I understand it, it is actually widening the concession, so they are not disadvantaged by this provision.

Senator Watson —There is no doubt about the availability of Medicare under such circumstances?

Senator SHERRY —No. It is not an issue, so there is no doubt.
