Senator BUTTON —In addition to the 27 Ministers, the list includes the three Parliamentary Secretaries who will be sworn in as Ministers after the Ministers of State Act 1952 has been amended. The list also shows those Ministers who constitute the Cabinet and provides details of representation arrangements in each chamber and the departments each Minister administers.

Senator Jones has been elected Government Whip and Senator Maguire and Senator McKiernan have been elected Deputy Government Whips.

Senator Walters —How are you going to keep both deputies in order?

Senator BUTTON —Mr President, I can see that the election has not changed the quality of the interjections; they remain abysmal. As honourable senators will be aware, the Government has made major changes to the structure of Commonwealth administration and I will be seeking leave to make a statement on those changes before Question Time tomorrow.
