Senator COATES —On behalf of the Standing Committee on Finance and Government Operations I present the report on the delay in the disposal of the Customs House, Wiltona Hostel and Rifle Range, Williamstown, Victoria.

Ordered that the report be printed.

Senator COATES —by leave-I move:

That the Senate take note of the report.

This is a very brief report containing the explanations of the Minister for Local Government and Administrative Services, Mr Uren, for the delay in the disposal of these properties. In one case disposal has now been finalised and in another it is expected soon. In a third, progress has occurred and the Standing Committee on Finance and Government Operations recommends that the Minister promptly inform the Parliament when the processes of consultation have been completed and a decision made. I seek leave to continue my remarks later.

Leave granted; debate adjourned.
