Senator Reid asked the Minister representing the Minister for Territories, upon notice, on 24 February 1987:

(1) When was the decision to proceed with the Women's Health Clinic taken.

(2) When will the clinic commence.

(3) How many staff are to be employed.

(4) What are the hours of operation.

(5) What is the cost (a) to establish the clinic, and (b) to continue operation.

(6) From where have the funds been allocated.


Senator Gietzelt —The answer to the honourable senator's question is as follows:

(1) No decision has been taken to establish a Women's Health Clinic. A decision was taken to establish a Womens' Health Service.

(2) The Women's Health Service will commence as soon as the necessary staff can be recruited.

(3) Three.

(4) Probably 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday but some evening sessions may also be necessary.

(5) (a) $2,400; (b) $98,000.

(6) From a reallocation of existing resources.
