Senator BUTTON (Leader of the Government in the Senate) —I inform the Senate that the Minister for Resources and Energy (Senator Gareth Evans) will be absent from the chamber at Question Time today as he is attending a special meeting of the northern and central land councils in Darwin, at their request. Any questions which would normally be directed to Senator Evans in relation to his portfolio or those he represents should be directed to me. Honourable senators who have questions for the Special Minister of State (Senator Tate) should attempt to direct them to him in the first half hour of Question Time as he will be departing from the chamber at 2.30 p.m. to travel to Brisbane for a speaking engagement later today.
