Senator MACKLIN —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate-

(a) notes with alarm and concern that since the Federal Government introduced tertiary fees in last year's Budget, thousands of Australian students have been forced to abandon tertiary study;

(b) notes that the Federal Government's own monitoring committee has acknowledged that the fee has placed an unfair burden on women and poor students; and

(c) calls on the Government to use the May 1987 mini-Budget to remove the now over 20 anomalies and inequities in the fees legislation, such anomalies having been identified by the Australian Democrats when the fees legislation was introduced, such amendments to resolve them having received no support from the Liberal, National or Labor Parties.
