Senator SHEIL —I ask leave of the Senate to make a personal explanation.

Leave granted.

Senator SHEIL —I thank the Senate. In the division on the Equal Employment Opportunity (Commonwealth Authorities) Bill 1987 Senator Florence Bjelke-Petersen was absent. That was due to an oversight following the disruption of the coalition when there were certain teething problems among the Whips. Senator Bjelke-Petersen is away today as the wife of the Queensland Premier to attend celebrations.

Senator Cook —I thought that you were making a personal explanation.

Senator SHEIL —Yes, as the Whip. This is the fortieth anniversary of her husband's election to the Queensland Parliament. I know that she would want it recorded that she would have voted against the Bill.
