Senator CHANEY (Leader of the Opposition)(4.23) —I would have thought that if, for example, the Women's Electoral Lobby was very concerned to pursue what it saw as inadequate performance in equal opportunity for affirmative action in Australia Post, it may well find itself in a situation where the sort of quite basic information, which the Minister has just outlined, would be in these reports, might not be available for it for a very long time, whereas the same information would be immediately available for it if it were trying to chase the same goal with respect to the Broken Hill Proprietary Co. Ltd. I suggest to the Minister that she might examine that, because I doubt that that is her intention. I would have thought that it would, therefore, warrant either her acceptance of our amendment or an undertaking that she will examine the matter and try to ensure that public authorities cannot engage in a cover-up which is not open to private companies.
