Senator POWELL(4.12) —The Australian Democrats, in not supporting the amendments, would point out that we believe, particularly in the case of amendment No. 4, that they are not necessary since a report to the Public Service Board, if that is the election in any case, becomes a report to the Prime Minister which is then tabled in the Parliament as part of the annual report of the Public Service Board. In the case of amendment No. 5, we would point to clause 9 (4), which imposes a three-month time limit. We believe that that ensures the tabling of a report. The same would apply in relation to amendment No. 6. On the basis that the amendments are, in our view, unnecessary, we will not support them.
