To the Honourable the President and members of the Senate in Parliament assembled:

We, the undersigned citizens of Australia, being concerned that the association of smoking with sport makes smoking attractive to children; and that the tobacco companies are exploiting the loophole in the law forbidding the advertising of cigarettes on television; and wishing to remove any chance that tobacco advertising might influence children to take up smoking; respectfully call on the Government to enforce the law which forbids the promotion of cigarettes on television through sports sponsorship.

And your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray.
