Senator REID —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate-

(a) notes that the Australian Capital Territory Schools Authority is to establish a program to assist young autistic children in 1988;

(b) also notes that in 1985 a program designed to help autistic Canberra children was abolished through spending cuts caused by the 1985 May mini-Budget;

(c) draws attention to the plight of Canberra children who have been without such a program due to the poor planning and administration of the Federal Labor Government; and

(d) calls upon the Government to give some assurance that there will not be a similar attack on services for handicapped children in ACT schools.
