Senator VIGOR —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate-

(a) deplores the settlement terms offered to victims of the Dalkon Shield by the A. H. Robins Company;

(b) notes with anguish the fact that thousands of Australian women have had to seek redress for their injuries and suffering in United States courts; and

(c) calls upon the Federal Government to tighten product safety standards and to introduce class action legislation which will give consumers an effective channel of redress for harm caused by deficient goods.
