Senator COLLARD —My question is to the Leader of the Government in the Senate. I refer the honourable gentleman to his announcement in January that `any new Government proposal affecting business must be cleared with the Business Regulation Review Unit'. Did the Government refer to the Unit the Lemonthyme and Southern Forests (Commission of Inquiry) Bill which is currently before the Senate? If not, why not, given that this legislation, if passed, will have a major impact on the Tasmanian forest industry?

Senator BUTTON —I am unable to answer that question precisely. I think the position is that all Cabinet submissions are referred in normal circumstances to the Business Regulation Review Unit. Whether that happened in this case, or whether there was an omission in this case, I do not know. I will certainly find out for the honourable senator and give him an answer.
