Senator RYAN (Minister for Education)(9.27) —I simply must respond briefly because I cannot possibly accept Senator Puplick's wildly extravagant claims about perversions of various courses of action. I have said, in response to the matter of the practice of the Parliament in relation to funds for legislative matters not yet enacted, that further information is being sought. I also said in reply to Senator Newman's question, relating to documents that have been withheld under the Freedom of Information Act and their accessibility to the Commission, that further information is being sought. But I point out that clause 13 gives the Commission of Inquiry into the Lemonthyme and Southern Forests the investigative powers that arise from the Royal Commissions Act 1902.
