Senator RYAN (Minister for Education)(9.06) —Yes, Mr Chairman. Because there was some concern about the initial answer I gave regarding the Government's expectations for compensation, I took the unusual step of explaining and clarifying that answer during the adjournment debate. At that time I pointed to the compensation provisions in the Lemonthyme and Southern Forests (Commission of Inquiry) Bill 1987 and the guarantee in the second reading speech of compensation where damage, direct or indirect, can be established.
