To the Honourable the President and members of the Senate in Parliament assembled.

The petition of the undersigned respectfully showeth:

That we consider the decision to curtail the landsca-ping at the New Parliament House is a false economy. The landscaping is an integral part of the building and environs which together will be one of the world's most exciting examples of architectural design this century. Incomplete it will be a monument to our lack of resolve as a nation.

Your petitioners most humbly pray that the Senate, in Parliament assembled, should urge the Government to:

(a) Reconsider the reinstatement of the landscaping according to the present plans,

(b) Consider savings which may be made in other areas to ensure this may be achieved.

And your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray.
