(Question No. 1502)

Senator Archer asked the Minister representing the Special Minister of State, upon notice, on 13 November 1986:

Did the workload of the ABCI increase two-fold between the time of its establishment and November 1983; if so, was there an increase in support staff commensurate with this increased workload.

Senator Tate —The answer to the honourable senator's question is as follows:

Under the Intergovernmental Agreement on the ABCI, the management of the ABCI is the responsibility of the Director and the Management Committee to which he reports. The Management Committee in turn reports to the Australian Police Ministers' Council (APMC). In view of these arrangements it would be inappropriate for the Special Minister of State to be answering questions on the day to day operations of the ABCI.
