(Question No. 1468)

Senator Archer asked the Minister representing the Special Minister of State, upon notice, on 23 October 1986:

Has the Government been made aware of funding for ABCI which caused curtailment of important travel, regarded as necessary by the ABCI, both interstate and overseas. Is there now sufficient funding to ensure that necessary expenditure levels be maintained.

Senator Tate —The answer to the honourable senator's question is as follows:

In 1985-86 the ABCI expressed dissatisfaction about the level of funding initially allocated for travel; subsequently funds were reallocated from within the ABCI Administrative vote which overall was not fully spent.

The 1986-87 allocation for travel is the level sought by the ABCI during the draft estimates process.
