Senator Archer asked the Minister representing the Special Minister of State, upon notice, on 23 October 1986:

What action has the Government taken to overcome the claim by the Police Ministers' Council that ``the lack of support staff is having an adverse effect upon the efficiency and development of [ABCI]''.

Senator Tate —The answer to the honourable senator's question is as follows:

The words quoted in the question are taken from a document titled the ``Annual Report on the activities of National Common Police Services 1984-85''. The document is based on a report to the Australian Police Ministers' Council by the Management Committee of the ABCI.

See answer to Question upon Notice No. 1463. In addition, the Australian Police Ministers' Council has under consideration a number of development options which include the question of staffing.
