Senator JESSOP —by leave- In an article ridiculously headed `Baume's endorsement is another Labor victory' on page 15 of yesterday's Australian newspaper, Mr Des Keegan wrote:

Senator Jessop supports Labor's Moscow Card . . .

Mr President, I am utterly opposed to Labor's so-called `Moscow card'. At no time have I ever told a reporter, a public or private assembly or a radio or television audience that I support the Australia Card. It is true that I have urged my party to treat the Australia Card Bill 1986 [No. 2] with cynicism equal to that of the Prime Minister (Mr Hawke) in bringing the Bill back to the Senate unamended. I have been very active in trying to persuade the people of Australia that the card is a dangerous instrument of policy, more akin, of course, to Moscow than any Australian city or town. I suggest that Mr Keegan should refrain from using such abusive and inaccurate information in future, otherwise it could lead him into litigation. I expect an appropriate public apology to be made.
