Senator KILGARIFF(4.59) —As Opposition Whip, might I say that there is no speakers list for the discussion of this ministerial paper on the status of women. What is happening is that Opposition senators who are very interested in this subject are speaking to the paper. I stress that it was indicated that there were to be discussions on this paper, and that it was suggested that the Estimates committee hearings would take place after dinner. Therefore, I do not think the Opposition can be blamed in any way for the enormous expenditure that is supposedly being incurred at the moment. It is not the Opposition's fault because Opposition members believe they have the right to speak on this important subject. I understand that there are very few other senators who wish to speak on this paper. I understand that there are probably two more speakers, and I understand that there will be little discussion on the paper in which Senator Tate is interested.
