To the Honourable the President and the members in Parliament assembled. The petition of the undersigned citizens of Australia respectfully showeth:

No. 1: That we are totally opposed to the introduction of the Australia Card or of any national numbering system.

No. 2: That we consider that national compulsory identification will be intrusive, costly and ineffective in combatting tax evasion, illegal immigration and social security fraud.

No. 3: That we are deeply concerned at Parliament's inability to provide effective and efficient methods to combat tax and social security fraud without resorting to expensive, ineffective and authoritarian measures alien to the Australian way of life.

No. 4: That we call on the Parliament assembled to improve management of systems within the Australian Tax Office and other departments to crack down on tax evasion and fraudulent practices.

And your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray.
