Senator TATE (Special Minister of State)(6.12) —It is not the aim of this Government, nor do we intend it to be the consequence of the inquiry-indeed, the inquiry has specific elements built into its terms of reference to ensure that such a result does not occur-that economic activity in Tasmania should be unduly jeopardised by this particular inquiry and anything that it may recommend. Indeed, there are many alternatives built in right throughout clause 8 to try to ensure that forestry operations in particular can continue to sustain a forest based industry in Tasmania, although perhaps not always from exactly the same areas as presently contemplated.
