Senator VALLENTINE —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate-

(a) notes with interest the proposal of the President of the National Farmers Federation (Mr Ian McLachlan) for Australia to promote nuclear-free food on the world market;

(b) notes also his call for the `canning' of the Lucas Heights nuclear facility;

(c) commends both these proposals to give Australia a nuclear free status in a world deeply worried about the risks of nuclear contamination and which would greatly benefit our hard-hit agricultural sector; and

(d) calls for the closure of the Lucas Heights nuclear facility and the prohibition of the irradiation of food products in Australia.
