Senator MICHAEL BAUME —My question is addressed to the Minister representing the Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Youth Affairs. I refer him to a report today that $67m out of $103m allocated in Federal funding for job creation programs in New South Wales has not yet been spent by the New South Wales Government due to mismanagement within its Department of Employment and, in particular, that only $6m of the year's allocation of $26m for youth employment had been spent in New South Wales. Is this report correct? Does the Federal Government intend to do anything to ensure that its program is implemented, particularly for youth; or will it, as suggested in the report, simply cut next year's allocation to New South Wales, where youth unemployment remains so high?

Senator BUTTON —I am not familiar with the circumstances. I will obtain an answer for Senator Michael Baume as soon as I can.
