Senator ARCHER —Can the Special Minister of State advise the Senate of the nature and extent of the inquiry carried out as a result of a gross breach of security when the Russian Foreign Minister arrived recently at Canberra Airport? What steps have been taken, who is conducting the inquiry, when will it be completed and when will the Minister be reporting to the Parliament?

Senator TATE —An inquiry into this incident was conducted at the request of the Prime Minister. I have forwarded a report on the incident to the Prime Minister. The elements of that report remain confidential at this stage but I will take the request of Senator Archer to the Prime Minister with a view, if not to making the full operational reflection on that incident available to the Parliament, at least to making it available to the shadow spokesman, who is Senator Archer.
