Senator ROBERTSON —by leave-I move:

That the Senate take note of the paper.

This is a matter that has come before the Standing Orders Committee on a number of occasions and we have made certain decisions. It is certainly a matter, as Senator Georges said, that needs to be resolved for the smooth running of the Senate. I do not think it is appropriate to debate it now. What we are looking for here is perhaps a Standing Orders Committee response rather than a government response. I seek leave to continue my remarks at a later stage so that we can get that resolution.

Leave granted.
