Senator COONEY —by leave- I give notice that, nine sitting days after today, I shall move:

That the amendment to the Meat Inspection (General) Orders, as amended, as contained in Meat Inspection Order No. 4 of 1986 made under the Meat Inspection (Orders) Regulations, which were made under the Meat Inspection Act 1983 be disallowed.

I seek leave to make a short statement.

Leave granted.

Senator COONEY —The Regulations and Ordinances Committee is scrutinising these Orders, which are subject to tabling and disallowance. The Committee has written to the Minister for Primary Industry (Mr Kerin) about the provision of statements of reasons to people affected by certain very important administrative decisions. Today is the last day on which I can give this protective notice of motion on behalf of the Committee and I do so to protect the scope and effectiveness of the scrutiny of the Orders.
