The PRESIDENT —Order! Honourable senators will be aware of the presence in the chamber this afternoon of television cameras and lights. I advise the Senate that I have approved of the filming with the prior agreement of the party leaders. Television networks will film the proceedings during the first half hour of Question Time for the purpose of updating the footage they use in illustrating news items about the Senate. Some still photographs will also be taken for use in Senate brochures. Recognising the discomfort caused by the increased lighting, I ask that the film crews ensure that the lights remain on only for the minimum period necessary to film the footage that they require. At the same time I ask that honourable senators bear with the discomfort which they may experience by virtue of the increased lighting.
