To the Honourable the President and members of the Senate in Parliament assembled. The petition of the undersigned citizens of Australia shows support for a resolution passed at a Public Meeting held in Canberra on 29th October 1986, convened by the Council of Civil Liberties (ACT) and Rupert Public Interest Movement, calling on the Federal Government:

(i) To urgently restore the Australian Bill of Rights to the Parliamentary agenda with a view to enactment;

(ii) To give consideration to extending the Bill to the states and territories of Australia in the same was as the Commonwealth; and

(iii) To take the necessary steps to continue the operation of a Human Rights Commission from 9 December 1986.

And your petitioners in duty bound will ever pray.
