Senator COLLARD (Leader of the National Party of Australia) —Mr President, on behalf of my colleagues I join those who have already spoken in congratulating you on attaining your high office. The advice has already been given to you that, even though you are in that high office, it does not immediately bring respect; you gain that only after you have earned it. You have seen that with your predecessors. My colleagues will co-operate as much as possible. Occasionally debate gets a little robust, but we recognise that the Standing Orders are there and we will do our best to operate within those Standing Orders. We understand that there are times when we might be chided by your high office. I extend our congratulations. We will attempt to co-operate as much as possible.
