Senator PARER —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate-

(a) deplores the actions of a few militant union leaders at the Invincible Coal Mine at Lithgow which has closed the mine and cost several hundred decent men their jobs and guaranteed their families a very bleak Christmas: and

(b) condemns the few union leaders who were unable or unwilling to recognise that the $20m spent at the Invincible coal mine by Austen and Butta Ltd to produce coal competitively could only succeed if outdated and restrictive work practices were removed.
