Senator TOWNLEY —Mr Deputy President, I seek leave to make a personal explanation.

Leave granted.

Senator TOWNLEY —I have not spoken in the debate on the Government's response to the report of the Senate Standing Committee on National Resources for the very same reason that Senator Zakharov has not spoken. It was my clear understanding that we would not speak for very long and that she would just introduce the debate. It is not that I am not interested in Antarctica; as a member of the Committee I will be speaking on it at a subsequent time.
