Senator BOSWELL —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate-

(a) condemns the Queensland branch of the Australian Labor Party (ALP) for its shabby treatment of its lone female representative, Anne Warner, who could not make it on to the front bench because of a factional deal;

(b) notes with concern the suppression of Queensland women by the ALP who only returned a token female to State Parliament and refused to endorse any other women candidates in winnable seats;

(c) congratulates the 4 Queensland National Party women candidates-Family Services Minister Yvonne Chapman, Leisha Harvey, Dianne Macauley and Beryce Nelson-who were elected to State Parliament; and

(d) calls on the Minister for Education (Senator Ryan) to request the Sex Discrimination Commissioner to investigate the repressive and unenlightened actions of the Queensland branch of the ALP.
