Senator GARETH EVANS (Minister for Resources and Energy)(10.49) —I am happy to help Senator Reid to the extent that I can. But I am really not in a position to give precise answers to the questions she has raised. I am not aware of any other organisations or institutions that it is currently proposed to move. She has mounted a strong argument for retaining the organisation in Canberra. I will ensure that her remarks and representations on this issue are drawn to the attention of the Attorney-General (Mr Lionel Bowen). I do not want to make the vulgar political debating point, of course, that if her Party has its way, there will be no Human Rights Commission in Canberra or anywhere else. But that is probably something she will have to take up in the party room.
