Senator GRIMES (Minister for Community Services)(9.24) —I do not think it is a laughing matter. If it saves money, I think that is fair enough. I must say that, in view of the terrible jokes that have been told in this place tonight, the thought of a conservative like Senator Townley wanting us all to turn left through red lights really amuses me. I am told by the officers that not everywhere else in the world does it. I am also told--


Senator MacGibbon —It is a State matter.


Senator GRIMES —It is largely a State matter. From my experience, trying to get the States to agree on anything in this country, especially turning left, is going to be very difficult to do. But I will take this matter seriously and I will try to get a proper answer for the honourable senator.
