Senator HARRADINE(5.20) —I just indicate that it would be unusual if the procedure were adopted that the three Opposition amendments were dealt with first and if one were, in addressing oneself to those amendments, not able to address oneself to the Government's amendment and to the Australian Democrats' amendment because essentially I believe the issue is one and the same. Provided that we are able to do that, I am happy to go along with what is decided.

The CHAIRMAN —I will not rule anyone out of order who wishes to discuss the relative merits of the alternative amendments that have been circulated. Honourable senators are perfectly in order to do so. At the moment we have no amendment before the Chair.
