Senator Sir JOHN CARRICK —My question is directed to the Leader of the Government in the Senate. What obstacles, if any, exist, including International Labour Organisation decisions, which would prevent the compulsory employment of those receiving unemployment benefit? I ask this question for the fourth time in six weeks, having been given three firm promises from the Minister for an early answer.

Senator BUTTON —I asked the relevant department about an answer to the honourable senator's question this morning.

Senator Sir John Carrick —Six weeks!

Senator BUTTON —I understand. I am not necessarily in the business of apologising, but on the previous occasion I indicated that I very much regretted the delay in obtaining an answer to the question. I asked about it again this morning. I will continue to do so over the next 12 hours.
