Senator CHANEY (Leader of the Opposition)(3.04) —It is my understanding, as the report itself makes clear, that we will have an opportunity to discuss this report and the recommendations in it in the first week after we resume in February.

Senator Harradine —I have not seen the report.

Senator CHANEY —I am sorry. Excuse my intervening, Mr President, but I thought you may not have heard the full question. There is no question of changes being made in advance of that debate, as I understand it. In fact, the Opposition is not in general supportive of a number of the recommendations and we would certainly expect a serious debate on them and the preservation of the usual free vote on those matters.

Question resolved in the affirmative.

Motion (by Senator Grimes) agreed to:

That consideration of the report in Committee of the Whole be made an order of the day for the next day of sitting.
