Senator Sir JOHN CARRICK —I ask the Leader of the Government in the Senate: What obstacles, if any, including International Labour Organisation decisions, exist which might prevent the compulsory employment of persons in receipt of unemployment benefit? I need not remind the Minister that this is the third time of asking this question and that the Minister gave me an assurance on each of two occasions that he would get an answer as soon as possible. What possible reasons are there for a delay of five weeks in answering?

Senator BUTTON —My mind boggles, I must say, to think of the possible reasons. I have sought an answer on this matter for several weeks. I will not give the honourable senator any further undertakings, if he does not mind, because I have given them to him twice already.

Senator Sir John Carrick —Can you give me the reasons why you cannot get it.

Senator BUTTON —I will, when I give the honourable senator the answer.
